Rather then a definition, this week I bring you an explanation. For those who haven't looked into it..
-Nibiru (also transliterated Neberu, Nebiru) is a term in the Akkadian language, translating to "crossing" or "point of transition", especially of rivers[1], i.e. river crossings or ferry-boats. In Babylonian astronomy, nibiru (in cuneiform spelled dné-bé-ru or MULni-bi-rum) is a term of the highest point of the ecliptic, i.e. the point of summer solstice, and its associated constellation. The establishment of the nibiru point is described in tablet 5 of the creation epic Enûma Eliš"- (excerpted from Wikipedia)
It has been come to be known as "the planet of the crossing" since it is theorized to cross paths with us. Many ancient Sumerian and Babylonian texts refer to it as the home of the Annunaki/Elohim/etc
Modern theories are greatly varied, only minor scientific information has come from NASA and other astronomers who know that something is out there causing a pull on the orbits of our outlying planets. The 90s was full of reports on Planet X, which has been compounded in theory to be one and the same as Nibiru.
One theorist explains"Planet Nibiru (Ne.Bi.Ru) is known by many names, such as: Planet X, The Twelfth Planet, Marduk, Paradise, "Heaven" and the "Kingdom of the Heavens" and etc. in various cultures. Although Nibiru has been called The Twelfth Planet, technically it is not a planet of our solar system. In fact, it is a planet from another solar system and the star that was the sun of its solar system has been extinguished. Nibiru was never visible from the Earth but the star which was the centre of Nibiru’s solar system was visible in the skies from Earth. The orbiting pattern of Nibiru gave the Anunnaki the advantage of having a mobile observatory from which they could observe and investigate many other planets near its orbit."
Deconstructionists of the theory include the following idea:
"Planet-X (the one associated with the Big 2012 Hoax) is a completely separate fake planet, invented by Nancy in the mid 1990s. In her story, Nancy claims that she was abducted by aliens who implanted a special receiver in her brain. They use the receiver to send her secret messages.
In one such message (she claims), they warned her about a rogue planet that would come through our solar system, pass too close to Earth and cause all kinds of global problems (tsunamis, earthquakes, pole flips...). 90% of the Earth population was going to die.
"Friends" of Nancy turned this story into a hoax, telling people that the only way to survive was to buy their book (on how to survive) and to buy seats on a rescue craft sent by the aliens.
The date of doomsday was... May 13, 2003.
Meanwhile, real astronomers discover a real object way out there in the Kuyper belt. This new object had nothing to do with neither the Planet-X of the hoax, nor with Nibiru. But this new object is bigger than Pluto, so the astronomer who discovered it thought that it would become the 10th planet."
In this explination all the current speculation on Nibiru is based on a handful of people who were just making stuff up, but there really is a distant object, of what importance it is no naysayers have speculated
If there is a timeline to the closest proximity this distant "planet" will reach and possibly cause an effect on the earth, it will be near impossible to pin down the date, 2003 and 2012 are guesses, other guesses have been stated as 2085. I don't believe our current dating systems for ancient documents and objects are as accurate as the scientists who use them want to believe, it really is all guess work. With that in mind there is no way to accurately predict the length of the cycle or the exact date the last "crossing" occurred.
I personally believe our alignment with the center of the galaxy is what we should be worried about. The Mayan calendar signals an end to the current era and the beginning of a new era at the same time the earth aligns with the sun which aligns with the central force that keeps our galaxy together. Sounds like a better reason for a gravitational pull then another planet.
More speculation:
